Fitness : Live Healthy

Let me try you to motivate for being healthy.

We all want to be healthy and know that how to become healthy. We spend a good amount of time behind desk, but once we feel starve, we forget everything and pick pizza or other full calories items. Keeping desire of being healthy, will not help us itself. We need to be motivated and work for that.

Here is motivation quote “Being fit will make you better developer”, here is why:

1. Confidence

Getting in shape will feel you better about yourself. If you are fit and in shape, you will look smart in all apparel. No matter you are wearing jeans or trouser, you will look good and it will give you self-confidence which will reflect in your interactions and conversations.

2. Brain Power

A recent research confirmed that people who are in shape and fit have better analytical and problem solving skills. People gave few tests and after that they attended fitness training. On fitness training completion, they gave tests again. This time, results improved. Not sure if this is because of their improved self-confidence or some sort of chemical changes in body due to reduced fat percentage and bad cholesterol.

3. Long Life

Exercise and healthy diet will help to increase good cholesterol and reduce bad cholesterol and fat. It will reduce risks like heart attack. Exercise and healthy eating habits, will keep you away from many illness and give you healthier and long life.

I believe, you have reasons to be motivated, now time to set fitness goals. Without goals, you will never achieve those. As a developer, you are used to sit long time behind desk and working for crazy hours. Without setting some realistic goals, you will never try to achieve those. So…

  • Pick Goal

Many people think that fitness means losing weight and building muscle, they work for that and never successful. Why? Because both are 2 contradictory goals. If you are losing weight means you will burn calories. If you are building muscles, you will put calories in shape and most of time, you need to eat extra to gain more calories. That’s why I was saying, people fail because they try to move in 2 different directions at the same time.

There are many different fitness goals, you need to pick one of them carefully, and some are following:

  1. Lose weight
  2. Build muscles
  3. Being better in sports
  4. Increase strength
  • Set Milestone

This is time to set milestones. If you are losing weight, how much do you want to lose in how many weeks? After setting target, set weekly target to achieve that big target. At one point of time, I planned to lose 20 pound weight and started for that. I set target to lose 1 pound per week and set 20 weeks target. I planned my exercise and dieting chart accordingly and moved forward.

  • Measure Progress

Now you are working hard to achieve your weekly target and final target. So time to keep measuring progress whether you are going in right direction and achieving weekly target or not. If yes, fantastic, you just need to keep the momentum. If not, do necessary adjustment in your exercises and dieting chart.

When I was on dieting, I purchased a weight machine to check my progress. I used it daily because weight can vary based on what I have eaten and how much water I have at that time in my body. Measuring weight every day before breakfast, gives me less fluctuating results.

  • Live Healthy

Once you reach to your final target, never try to come back to your normal life immediately. I have seen many people, who stopped exercise and start eating what they were doing before. They gained weight again and all their hard work vanished. I am not saying that do not come back to normal life, what I saying that do it slowly, keep a tap on your eating habits and start increasing in slow pace. Remember you do not need to come back in old life style.

You need to stay in between of old lifestyle and new dieting lifestyle so that you will not gain weight and can eat little more via continuing exercise and healthier eating habits.
